Eddie Shaw

Eddie has been tattooing for over eight years.  Bringing his experiences as an accomplished freelance fine artist, illustrator, and art instructor, Eddie draws upon a wide variety of styles and techniques to create custom-designed tattoos that combine both traditional and new school elements.  He enjoys detailed black and grey tattooing as well as works in color.  He specializes in a variety of styles and techniques from the bold, graphic, yet highly refined, to detailed realism and portraits, as well as in custom designed lettering and text effects.

Eddie grew up in Meriden and studied Painting and Illustration at the Hartford Art School where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art.  His work has been featured at the Society of Illustrators in New York City, and he continues to exhibit his paintings regularly at local venues.  His career as a professional tattoo artist began in 2003 here at Tattoo International where he had gotten his first tattoo years earlier.  He apprenticed under Mark Savaikis.  Three years later, Eddie was deployed to Afghanistan with his Army National Guard Infantry Battalion for over a year.  Despite harsh, and often violent conditions overseas, he managed the resources to “set up shop” and continued to tattoo his fellow troops whenever time allowed.  He returned to Tattoo International in 2007 and has been tattooing professionally ever since.  Ask about military discounts.

“Art puts me in touch with worlds that lie just beyond the reaches of the senses…”
